Hypromellose Ophthalmic Solution USP
Composition:
Hypromellose 0.3% w/v + SOC 0.005% w/v
Indication:
In For the relief of burning, irritation and discomfort due to dryness, increases Tear-film break up time.
HPMC 0.3% Eye Drops (Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose) are lubricating eye drops / artificial tears used mainly for dry eyes and eye irritation.
Uses of HPMC 0.3% Eye Drops
- Relief from dry eyes
- Reduces burning, irritation, and redness
- Helps with eye strain from mobile/computer use
- Gives moisture when eyes feel gritty or sandy
- Useful in dryness caused by:
- Air conditioning
- Dust/pollution
- Wind/sunlight
- Long screen time
- Reduced blinking
- Sometimes used after eye procedures/surgery for lubrication
How it works
It forms a moisturizing protective film over the eye surface and acts like natural tears.
Common Side Effects
Usually mild and temporary:
- Temporary blurred vision
- Mild irritation or stinging
- Redness
- Watery eyes
- Foreign body sensation in eye
How to Use
- Usually 1–2 drops in affected eye(s) as needed or as prescribed.
- Wash hands before use.
- Do not touch the dropper tip to the eye.
- If using another eye drop, wait 5–10 minutes between drops.
Important Tips
- Remove soft contact lenses before using (if advised on label).
- Vision may blur for a few minutes after putting drops.
- If pain, swelling, or severe redness occurs, consult an eye doctor.
