About Moxifloxacin Eye Ointment

Moxifloxacin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that helps treat bacterial infections of the eye. It fights bacteria responsible for eye infections and helps reduce associated symptoms such as redness, discomfort, and irritation.

Uses

This eye ointment is commonly used for:

• Bacterial conjunctivitis (Pink Eye)
• Bacterial infections of the eye
• Redness and irritation due to bacterial infection
• Pain and soreness associated with eye infections
• Pre-operative eye infection prevention
• Post-operative infection management following eye surgery

Usual Dosage

Typical dosage is:

• Apply a small strip of ointment inside the affected eye(s)
• Usually 2–3 times daily or as directed by your ophthalmologist
• Continue the full course of treatment even if symptoms improve early

How to Use

1. Wash your hands thoroughly.
2. Tilt your head back slightly.
3. Gently pull down the lower eyelid.
4. Apply a thin strip of ointment inside the lower eyelid.
5. Close your eye gently for 1–2 minutes.
6. Avoid touching the tube tip to the eye or any surface.
7. Replace the cap tightly after use.

Possible Side Effects

Usually mild and temporary:

• Mild burning or stinging sensation
• Temporary blurred vision
• Eye irritation
• Watery eyes
• Mild redness
